The Emirates Group is gearing up to meet thousands of Emirati job seekers at Careers UAE 2014, Dubai’s leading recruitment exhibition. Held under the patronage of His Highness
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, the three-day fair will kick-off on 22nd April at Dubai World Trade Centre.
The Emirates Group has participated annually in Careers UAE since its inception and continues to attract eager job seekers through creative approaches and interactive platforms. Over 1500 applications were submitted last year at the stand, highlighting Emirates’ position as an employer of choice for UAE Nationals.
“As the UAE’s economy continues to grow, the need for Emiratisation has become more significant today,” said Amira Al Awadhi, Vice President, National Recruitment and Development.
“At the Emirates Group, we recognise the importance of recruiting qualified UAE Nationals across all facets of business; not simply to fulfil a quota but to build, invest and contribute to the development of this country through its people,” she added.
The Emirates Group has a long-established National Recruitment Programme, which the company believes is vital to the development of the Group and the nation. UAE Nationals constitute a growing proportion of the leadership across the Group; illustrating the success of the UAE’s policies and Emiratisation programmes.
The Group is also a strong supporter of the Absher initiative which was introduced by the Ministry of Presidential Affairs (MOPA) to help diversify industries across the UAE and ensure compliance with government policies towards Emiratisation.
Signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Emirates National Development Programme (ENDP), the Emirates Group has recently reaffirmed its dedication to Absher, committing to take in 50 trainees per year for two years in different positions across Emirates, dnata and group.
The National Recruitment and Development division in the Emirates Group includes a dedicated team of 37 to recruit and develop extensive training programmes focused on UAE development. The department makes continuous efforts throughout the year to attract citizens, from regular visits to educational institutions and summer training programmes for students, to career fairs across the UAE and proactive recruitment.
The division works with leaders within the organization to place UAE Nationals in a variety of positions within the company, including engineering, ground services, commercial, outstation management and flight operations—preparing UAE Nationals to support the expansion of Emirates airline and dnata.
