Election tourism in India is becoming a popular trend among curious global travelers seeking to experience the most happening election of the world.

This summer is going to be a scorching time for many election workers. Many foreigners have booked for a six nights seven days package for US$ 1200. A private tour operator is providing foreigners a trip to experience the poll campaigns, public rallies, meeting party leaders and Election Commission offices in the cosiest circumstances possible.

“Despite summer, more people have committed to visit India during polls under ‘Election Tourism’ initiative,” said ‘Election Tourism India’s city-based chairman Manish Sharma.

This was a concept used during the 2012 Gujarat Assembly elections. More than 120 international tourists visited Gujarat and this time it is more than 800 foreign tourists who have already booked their stay for this election tour. It is expected that there will be more than 2000 enquiries for this special tour.

The thrill, energy and enthusiasm involved in the elections of India is said to be the main draw for the international tourists. A large number of entries have been coming from Germany, France, America, United Kingdom, China, United Arab Emirates, Nigeria and Singapore.

The election tourism by the private tour operator includes visits to public rallies, poll campaigns, meeting different party leaders and Election Commission officers. These tours will educate and provide first hand experience of the Indian democracy in true colours.
