TripAdvisor’s Territory Manager to discusses impact of social communication on the hotel industry at GNEX 2014

GNEX 2014
The Global Networking Expo (GNEX) attracts senior level executives from more than 100 companies representing the core of the global vacation ownership industry spanning across six continents.  GNEX 2014 Timeshare Leaders Conference announces guest speaker from
travel website giant, TripAdvisor. Major resort developers and hoteliers will be among the attendees who will be eager to listen to the guest speaker.

Mark McCullough is the Territory Manager for the Eastern United States, Canada and Mexico for TripAdvisor for Business, with a focus on prospective and existing large hospitality group clients, which now includes some of the timeshare resort developer giants who operate mixed-use properties and have portions of accommodation available on a nightly basis to the general traveler.

Mark will address GNEX 2014 Conference delegates and share TripAdvisor statistics that will help explain the growing impact of online reviews on the hospitality industry and how to best work with this modern social communication channel to improve occupancy results at resorts and hotels.

Mark McCullough, Territory Manager for TripAdvisor said that in this day and age, having a strong social media strategy that is unique to your business is essential; TripAdvisor is a global platform and offers a great service for businesses that offer rooms on a nightly basis. I look forward to sharing best practices and advanced, tested strategies for accommodation businesses looking to get the most out of their presence on the site.

In addition to earning a Bachelor’s of Arts from MaryMount University, Mark holds Revenue Management Certifications from both Cornell and the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International. His experience and expertise comes from years of working within the travel and hospitality industries for companies such as Blackstone Private Equity, Orbitz, Smarter Travel Media and most recently TripAdvisor.

TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site, provides trusted advice from real travelers helping other travelers plan and experience the perfect trip. Operating in 34 countries, TripAdvisor branded sites make up the largest travel community in the world with more than 260 million unique monthly visitors and over 125 million reviews covering more than 3.1 million accommodations, restaurants and attractions around the world. Additionally, TripAdvisor includes TripAdvisor for Business, a dedicated division that provides the tourism industry access to millions of monthly TripAdvisor visitors.

Paul Mattimoe, president & CEO of Perspective Group and Founder of the GNEX conference said that it is imperative for timeshare industry resort developers to grasp the enormity of the impact that social media has on sales made, and rescission levels. TripAdvisor plays a major part in this, and can, if utilized effectively, be a very positive and powerful marketing tool, so we felt it was important to have Mark McCullough join us at GNEX 2014 to meet more of our industry’s major players and share his experience with them.

Since its inception in 2011, GNEX has continued to build upon its unique platform to foster an independent, level-playing field approach to the industry, where companies large and small, from any association or affiliated group can come together in an environment that centrally focuses on networking and forging new business relationships.

Following successes in the Bahamas, Mexico and California, the Fourth Annual GNEX conference will be held at the Ritz Carlton Sarasota in Sarasota, Florida on February 9-12, 2014.
