US issues travel alert for 2014 Sochi Olympics

sochi 2014
As Americans packed their bags for Sochi to attend 2014 Sochi Olympics, the US Sate Department issued a travel alert warning the travellers to
“remain attentive regarding their personal security at all times.”

Sources reveal the increasing violence in North Caucasus has prompted the ensuing travel alert.
“Russian authorities have indicated that they are taking appropriate security measures in Sochi in light of this,” the travel alert stated.

US officials also warned travellers of medical concerns.
“The Olympics are the first large-scale event to be held in Sochi and medical capacity and infrastructure in the region are untested for handling the volume of visitors expected for the Olympics,” the alert said.
