Pride of Britain Hotels welcomes two new members

visit britain
The Airds Hotel and Gilpin Hotel & Lake House have increased Pride of Britain Hotels’ presence in Scotland and northern England as they become the latest members to join the
luxury hotel consortium.

The Airds Hotel has boosted the consortium’s boutique country house hotel offer – situated in the pretty hamlet of Port Appin in western Scotland, around a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Glasgow, guests can enjoy views over Loch Linnhe and the mountains of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. The hotel’s restaurant has been awarded three AA Rosettes, and has held a place in the Good Food Guide for 37 years. Local suppliers provide the menu’s seafood, while many of the vegetables and herbs come from the hotel’s own kitchen garden.

The hotel’s location means easy exploration of the beautiful local surroundings; take a day trip to the islands of Mull or Skye – look out for seals, birds of prey and porpoises along the way – or walk, bike or horse ride around the loch shores.

Over the Scottish border and into northern England, The Gilpin Hotel & Lake House – close to Windermere in the Lake District, around a two-hour car or rail journey from Manchester – comprises two country houses and spans two estates. The Gilpin is set in 22 acres of gardens and grounds; most of its 20 rooms open on to the gardens, while the six luxury Garden Suites each have a private deck area with hot tub. A stroll through the grounds will lead guests to a llama paddock, a croquet lawn and a Japanese rockery. Its restaurant has also been awarded three AA Rosettes and serves local Cumbrian produce and west coast seafood.

Just a mile away, Gilpin Lake House offers guests six stylish suites enjoying exclusive access to 100 acres of private grounds, including a beautiful four-acre lake, indoor pool, salt snug, Japanese Ofura tub, boat house and the Spa, a Swedish-style treatment room overlooking the lake.
