Musoma is situated on the eastern side of Lake Victoria and is the administrative center of the Mara district. This town also has its share of colonial architecture dating to the days of German rule. Very few tourists visit Musoma, most of them
being over Landers just passing through.

Musoma is linked by a good surface road to Mwanza.

Two of the few places to visit in Musoma are Lukuba island, known for plentiful birdlife and the crocodile infested Mara river. Another place which could draw your attention is the Nyerere museum in Butiama. The museum contains a variety of exhibits relating to Tanzania’s first president, who is also the father of the nation.
