Oman to promote tourism potential at regional event

In a concerted effort to boost tourism in the country, a number of organizations from Oman are set to take part in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2014 which opens in Dubai on Monday.


 
Putting their best foot forward at the prestigious regional show will be Ministry of Tourism, Oman Air, Royal Opera House of Muscat (ROHM), Muriya Tourism Development, and Omran among several others.Through its participation in the ATM 2014, which concludes on May 8, the Ministry of Tourism will highlight the country’s growing travel and tourism sector along with its developing infrastructure.
In 2013, 2.1 million tourists visited Oman and stayed in 284 hotels, resorts and guest houses.

 
During the fair, the biggest regional event of its kind, the Ministry of Tourism will seek to put the spotlight on the two new luxury hotels, Alila Jabal Akhdar set to be inaugurated on May 8, and Salalah Rotana Resort that opened in Salalah recently. The visitors will get an overview of the two hotels at the ministry’s stand ME2210 at ATM 2014.

 
Khalid Al Zadjali, Director of Tourism Events, Ministry of Tourism, said: “The tourism and travel sector in the Sultanate of Oman is currently booming with an upsurge in international tourists.”

 
To take things to the next level, an investment of OMR254.6 million had been made in the tourism sector in 2013 alone.

 
Explaining the significance of participating in ATM, he said: “Arabian Travel Market is a perfect event to reach out to our intended audience. The new hotels will further increase the accommodation capacity within the luxury segment of Oman’s hospitality sector. We will ensure that we generate more interest of international travel vendors and services providers by informing them about the country’s growing tourism sector.”

The Royal Opera House of Muscat (ROHM), participating in ATM for the for the first time, expects that the show will help it position itself as a centre of excellence for global cultural engagement. It will be sharing its booth with the Ministry of Tourism located at Stand ME2210.

 
Christina Scheppelman, Director General, ROHM, said, “Our presence will allow us to present ourselves as a premier venue for culture and the arts. It will showcase the rich and diverse artistic creations of Omani artists and featured world class performances of opera, ballet, symphonic music, arabesque, family-friendly performances, jazz, flamenco.”

 
Arabian Travel Market is the leading international travel and tourism show in the Middle East for both inbound and outbound tourism professionals from all over the world.

 
The event, this year is being held under the theme, ‘One event, unlimited destinations.’
