Norway’s Husky “dog taxi” will carry passengers to the airport

dog taxi
Norway’s dog sledding has always been an efficient mode of transport keeping that in mind “dog taxi” transfer service has launched to collect passengers from the country’s northerly airports.

The service will be run by the Kirkenes Snowhotel and will need the backing of the Norway’s defence services along with the local authorities, in order to persuade the airport to accept their dog sled entourage.

A lot of permissions had to be taken as the huskies will run right into the runway; it will have to be considered that this does not affect the security in the airport. Also while going through the reindeer area they had to check with the owners for fear of disturbing the reindeers.

The route also runs close to the Russian border – meaning the hotel also had to negotiate with military border police. Up to two passengers can fit on each sled, but if there is a bigger group the hotel will send more dog teams, who arrive with thermal suits – as well as everything you need for a comfortable journey. So travelers can land in their skirt, high heels and the warm clothes will be taken care by the Snowhotel. The dog taxi service may be adopted by the other hotels too

Each transfer will come at a price of £225 and the 45-minute trek will give you a scenic view of the local countryside.
