A Kuwait Airways flight faced hydraulic failure and was forced to turn back to London. The aircraft was forced to turn back within 20 minutes and landed in the Heathrow Airport.
The Airbus A300-600 performing KU-104 was detained for five hours on the ground and the plane took off again, landing at Kuwait City with a total delay of five hours and 45 minutes. Kuwait Airways is currently in the process of upgrading its fleet, which is one of the oldest in the Gulf.
The airline has entered into a provisional agreement to buy 25 new aircraft from Airbus in a deal worth $4.4bn said the airline’s chairwoman Rasha Al Roumi. The deal will be completed despite an ongoing probe from the country’s parliament.
There have been votes from the lawmakers who have asked for investigations of the state-owned carrier which is attempting to push its largest overhaul since the country was invaded by Iraq in 1990.
