Mendelssohn House in Leipzig re-opens for tourists

Visitors can once again enjoy the Mendelssohn House in Leipzig from February 3, 2014, now boasting around 600 square metres of additional exhibition space.

Felix Mendelssohn, one of the foremost musicians of the Romantic period, was born in this house and also died here. Concerts featuring music from a range of different periods are held in the music room of the museum every Sunday at 11am. The rooms of the house with their authentic furnishings offer the whole family a glimpse into what life was like 150 years ago.

Felix Mendelssohn produced more than 700 compositions and was the founder of Germany’s first academy of music, which is still located in Leipzig today.
