DOMOKUCHU LODGE : Giving back to the Zanzibar citizens

Clubfoot (CTEV) affects hundreds of children in Zanzibar. Before this charity was set up the babies born with this defect, which affects one or both feet, were condemned to crawling for life with very poor life
chances. The charity trains technicians in a special Ponseti technique of applying a series of plaster casts, the method avoids complex surgery and the results are very successful.

These children are able to learn to walk and run and enjoy life fully! It's nothing short of a miracle that this charity was founded here in Zanzibar. The charity also helps older children with untreated clubfoot, providing crutches, wheelchairs and where necessary corrective surgery.
