Some unknown technical problems forced a United Airlines flight to make an emergency landing in Jackson-Evers Airport. The Boeing 737-900 twin jet plane was scheduled for New Orleans. It landed safely at
the Jackson Airport shortly before 10:00, but made it to its final destination at Armstrong International Airport early Tuesday morning.

United Airlines deployed a second plane overnight to get the passengers from Jackson to New Orleans, and it landed shortly before 3:00 am Tuesday. The journey took an abrupt turnaround 9:08 Monday night when the United flight started descending for the emergency landing around 9:36 pm.

According to one of the officials from the Jackson Mississippi Municipal Airport Authority said, “United flight 1263 on route from Chicago to New Orleans developed a mechanical problem and landed at the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport at approximately 9:30 pm. There were no injuries to any passengers or crew members.”

The flight left Chicago-O’Hare Airport about 5 minutes late at 7:38 pm. It was originally scheduled to arrive at Armstrong International at 9:57 pm. The flight was on a Boeing 737-900 twin jet. Depending on the configuration that type of aircraft has anywhere from 167 to 179 seats.
