Calling all musicians: a chance to perform at Southampton Airport

download (9)
Southampton Airport is offering talented musicians in the local area a chance to perform in the airport’s busy terminal. Planning is underway for this year’s programme of ‘Music In The Air’ – a series of
musical performances on Friday evenings.  Last year’s debut programme saw a range of musicians from saxophonists to acoustic rock bands, youth swing groups and electric string duos entertain passengers as they travelled through the terminal.

Music in the Air is a collaboration between Southampton Music Service (the lead organisation for the Southampton Music Hub) and Southampton Airport. The Southampton Music Hub is a network of organisations working together.

Hazel Screech, Terminal Operations Manager, said: “Music in the Air was very well received by our passengers last autumn and we’re excited to be offering the wider community an opportunity to perform throughout this year. We’re very keen to showcase local talent whilst providing entertainment in the terminal with a difference.”

Alita Mills, Director of the Southampton Music Service said: “Following the hugely successful Music in the Air programme delivered last series; we are excited to be involved in another series. Listening to live music in the airport terminal is a great way to start or end your journey.”

Interested musicians should contact music@southampton.gov.uk with the act/band/group name, what kind of music they play, the age of the musicians and links to samples of music.
