Algeria’s President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has declared three days of national mourning beginning Wednesday, Feb 12, following the crash of a military aircraft in Oum El Bouaghi, which
left dozens of people dead.
“The soldiers who died in the military aircraft crash are martyrs of duty. Therefore, we have declared three days of national mourning as from Wednesday 12th February 2014,” said the President in a message of condolence to Deputy Minister for National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaid Salah, and to the families of the victims.The Head of State also decided that Friday will be dedicated to tributes to the memory of the victims nationwide in all the mosques of the Republic.
