Sochi Olympic Games take off amid huge security concerns

The Sochi Olympic skating centreSochi Olympic Games begin amid much anticipation and fear. The event is shrouded with concerns on possible attacks however; the host’s are trying their best to reassure all participants to think that the event will  go smoothly till the end. How the Olympic Games turn out is yet to be seen but the Russians have put on a show that promises  an extraordinary way to welcome the winter Olympics.
A huge budget of $50bn is being used, 10 times of what Canada had
spent in putting up this extravaganza. Ballet, man-made snow and avant-garde art will mark the opening. This is going to be the most expensive opening ceremony in the Olympic history.
The Russian president Vladimir Putin will attend the opening show to strengthen the security concerns expressed by America and the rest of Europe. The world was concerned after the twin bomb blasts killed 34 people in Russia’s Volgograd. The subsequent threats too made the situation all the more fearful which were targeted on the Sochi Winter Olympics.
The US President Barrack Obama expressed officially that America will be doing everything in its capacity to keep any kind of attack off the Olympic Games.
Also Russia’s stand on Gay rights has somewhat disturbed the world and has instigated a worldwide protest and will probably hamper participation.
However it can only be hoped that the Olympic games take off on a  safe note and people get a  chance to enjoy this brilliant sporting event.
