A Boeing 787 Dreamliner operated by Air India had to make an emergency landing at Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday due to a technical snag in the cockpit. There were 215 passengers onboard the
Air India flight that was scheduled to fly from Melbourne to Delhi.
The latest reports reveal that there was a software malfunction in the cockpit which caused computers in the plane go blank. Although Air India officials denied the navigation aid malfunctioning, the constant league of problems faced by the Boeing Dreamliner is giving sleepless nights to the AI authority.
AI officials said that this was the first time a software problem occurred in the cockpit and Dreamliner engineers are being flown from Hong Kong. However, a series of problems since January last year is haunting the Air India officials.
In recent times, AI operated Boeing 787 aircraft faced problems like a Delhi Bangalore aircraft saw its fuselage flown off on October 2013. On November 3, the windshield cracked as an Air India flight landed in Melbourne. On November 5, AI flight had to make an emergency landing at the IGI Airport after warning lights indicated a braking system snag.
