Tourism NT $75 Sport Vouchers Are Back

Matt-Conlan
The cost of playing sport will once again be reduced for Territory families with the Government’s $75 Sport Vouchers back in 2014. Minister for Sport, Recreation and Racing Matt Conlan said
the $75 Vouchers will be available to be picked up from schools from 28 January.

“The Country Liberals Government $4 million Sport Voucher Scheme is helping Territory mums and dads with the cost of their children playing sport,” Mr Conlan said.

“We know every little bit of financial assistance counts and $75 will not only help the hip pocket but importantly, ensure sport is accessible to all young Territorians.

“As a result of the Sports Voucher Scheme we’re seeing more Territory kids involved in organised sport at the grassroots level where they can then go on and pursue pathways to the elite level. Organised sport teaches children important life skills and helps them lead an active and healthy life which benefits our whole community.”

This year, the $75 Sport Vouchers can be picked up by parents directly from their child’s school.

The Vouchers are available for every enrolled, school-aged child across the Territory from preschool right through to Year 12 in both government and non-government schools.

Under the Scheme, the $75 Sport Voucher can be used for registration, essential equipment and uniform costs at any registered sporting club from 1 February until 30 November 2014.

To find a registered sporting club in your area visit sportvoucher.nt.gov.au or ask your local sporting club if they are registered with the Sport Voucher Scheme.
Mr Conlan said registering a sporting club or organisation was simple and encouraged all Territory sports to get on board the Scheme and boost their junior participation this year.

Eligible organisations, clubs or registered businesses include those recognised as a Territory Peak Sporting Body, which have a National Sporting Organisation recognised by the Australian Sporting Commission, swim schools registered with AUSTSWIM Australia or Swim Australia, Ballet studios which teach a recognised ballet syllabus or Darwin Quarter Horse Association.

In remote areas with limited access to sporting clubs, Sport Voucher funding will be allocated to schools to support sporting activities.
