Plane loses propeller mid-air; lands safely at Willow Park

airplane_xlarge
Who would have thought that a racetrack will be an alternative for a runway? What could have been a major accident was smartly avoided; thanks to the pilot who safely landed a plane that
lost its propeller mid-air. Jack Barnett, the 79-year-old pilot looked relaxed after landing the plane safely at Parker County. The savior of the day said he never panicked after realizing the plane has lost its propeller. Instead his first thought was to just find a place to land, a place that didn’t involve cars or buses.

“It’s just one of those things that, uh, when you fly, it may happen; it may not,” calmly said Barnett. Barnett landed the plane on racetrack. His target became the racetrack, and he landed at an old infield for the track.

After landing the plane safely Barnett called his wife to narrate his experience. But, the kind of man Barnett is, his conversation with his wife was equally interesting. “Well, he called me and he said, ‘Guess what? I just crashed the plane,’” said Barnett’s wife. “I said, ‘What!?’ I said, ‘Well, are you OK?’ He said, ‘Yeah, but the plane’s tore up.’ I said, ‘Well, as long as you’re OK. It’s just a piece of metal. Don’t worry about it.’”
Salute to the real man of steel!
