The long-running tourist practice of horse-drawn carriages in Central Park has been called as inhumane. They are a must try for tourists visiting New York as horse drawn carriages
clip-clop through Central Park.

Soon to become history as the new mayor taking office on New Year’s Day will take on the campaign of removing this inhumane practice and ban horse-drawn carriages this week.

He said that quick and aggressive moves will be made to no longer include horse carriages in the landscape of New York City

But the carriage-drivers are promising to put up a fight. As they fear for their livelihood. Tourists who flocked to the park in great numbers to get in one last ride before the carriages disappear said that they were disappointed with this move made by the mayor.

The Mayor plans to replace the carriages with vintage cars, something that his team says would provide employment for those whose jobs would go with the ban.

Activists supporting the mayor said that No tourist comes to New York City just to ride on a horse carriage. Horses work long hours during which time they must navigate busy streets, often ending up injured as a result of collisions with passing vehicles. Those opposing this move felt that the animals will end up being slaughtered.
