
“Tourism is a major economic driver for regional Victoria and the Grampians relies on the economic benefits that tourism brings to the region,” Ms Asher said. In 2011-12, tourism contributed $949 million to the local Grampians economy (22.2 per cent of GRP) and generated employment for approximately 8,300 people.“It is important that Victorians support businesses in the Grampians including tourism operators and are encouraged to visit the area,” Ms Asher said.
Member for Lowan Hugh Delahunty said the Grampians region is full of exciting and interesting things to do and is welcoming visitors.Mr Delahunty said tourism is a major plank of the area’s economy and will continue to provide visitors with a vast array of attractions at all times of the year.Member for Western Victoria, Simon Ramsay said these attractions offer something for everyone, from the great outdoors with breathtaking scenery and walking tracks, fabulous food and wine, diverse array of native wildlife.
