A 16 year old faces severe injuries while skydiving in Oklahoma
It was a sad birthday for the 16 year old Mackenzie Wethington from Joshua, Texas who went for a skydiving trip to Oklahoma with her father. Her primary parachute failed to open and
Mackenzie plummets to the ground but survived a 3,500-foot altitude with broken bones and internal injuries.

Another man who was supposed to follow her got scared at the last minute so the instructor stayed with him and did not join Mackenzie and her father. Her father watched his daughter helplessly fall on the ground unable to help her.

The ground radio was trying to talk to her, but her speed and inability to cut the spiral to release the reserve didn’t quite happen. She has broken her vertebrate and other bones and is in and out of consciousness in the hospital, but doctors say she’s recovering. She had undergone six hours of training before taking the final jump.

Skydiving accidents are common and the chances of survival are slim. But with proper instructors skydiving is a rewarding experience.
