Saifful Azhar Sabaruddin, Chief Operating Officer said that Visit Malaysia 2014 was a brilliant pull factor for the country’s tourism industry.He added that Malaysia had made constant efforts to equip stakeholders in all the service sectors with the essential infrastructure, skills and support, such as newer buildings and bigger transportation hubs like the under construction KLIA2. The weaker Ringgit to the US dollar might also prove beneficial in luring foreign travelers to Malaysia.
The RM2 billion allocation announced during Budget 2014 by thePrime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would facilitate the tourism industry better cater to the growing number of tourists.
Saifful Azhar also highlighted that the Pekan Artisan was committed to developing high impact tourism attractions to spawn a higher income contribution to the Gross National Income as well as create employment opportunities for locals.
Recently, Pekan Artisan publicized that it would invest up to RM10 million in “Pencahayaan Langkawi”, a project to transform Langkawi into a starry island with lights along the beaches. The project is intended to brightening up some areas to provide night activities for visitors and boosting the food and beverages businesses along beaches. It is likely to be completed before the 2015 Asean Summit to make an impression on delegates and visitors.
